A hybrid vehicle uses two or more distinct types of power, such as internal combustion engine+electric motor, in diesel-electric trains using diesel engines and electricity from overhead lines, and submarines that use diesels when surfaced and batteries when submerged. Other means to store energy include pressurized fluid, in hydraulic hybrids.

Battery-A hybrid car battery is like any other battery—except that it is rechargeable and has enough juice to move a large heavy vehicle down the road for a few feet or a few miles.

Generator-Free-piston engines could be used to generate electricity as efficiently as, and less expensively than, fuel cells. It Generates electricity to the engine of a hybrid vehicle.

Power Split Device-The power split device is a planetary gear set (below). The electric motor is connected to the ring gear of the gear set. It is also directly connected to the differential, which drives the wheels. So, whatever speed the electric motor and ring gear spin at determines the speed of the car.

Electric Motor-also called as electric generator, it produces electricity to battery and to the engine, it charges the battery while running.

Internal Combustion Engine-the engine that makes the vehicle run, it can be fueled like normal cars—but have an electric motor and battery, and can be partially or wholly powered by electricity.
